Well, its a long story, but currently there is a filibuster of sorts in the Oregon Legislature. Filibusters are not allowed under House rules, but this is not the typical filibuster....
After fiery debate and attacks from both sides, the vote finally came up...and Republican Representative John Lim simply said, unless you let me speak to the bill I will not vote. Earlier, a democrat had moved the previous question, meaning he had ended debate and started the vote on the bill. Because of this, Lim did not get a chance to speak to the bill.
This has been going on for nearly five hours, one Representative has already gotten out his sleeping bag, others are playing cards, while still others are working on their laptops. This is defiantly an interesting situation. Principle against rules. Endurance against pressure. Republican against Democrat.
