Senator Larry George tells it like it is; that takes some guts many Republicans don't have.

I've been gone
Sorry all -- for the lack of posts lately. I have been in Georgia helping with a special election for Congress. I will be back in Oregon Wednesday so things should settle down again then.

Oregon State Police Funding:
The word is Rep. Scott wrote most of this speech himself from the notes he had been taking. Quite impressive.

Credit Where Credit Is Due; Bashing Where Bashing Is Due
Last week Democrats were forced to show their true colors -- how they stand on "immigration reform".
Representative Richardson made a motion to withdraw two immigration bills from committee. The bills had been languishing there this session, and were expected to completely die soon. The first bill House Bill 3553 (to view the bill click Here) related to subjecting another to slavery. Without any comment the Democrats voted the motion down 31-29.
The second bill, House Bill 3554 (To view the bill click Here) which among other things, Requires evidence of citizenship for persons registering to vote for first time in this state; and
After some uncomfortable faces, Representative Thatcher gave a short summery why everyone should vote for this motion. Representative Chris Edwards could be found talking to Democrat Leader Hunt. And finally when the vote came up -- Representative Chris Edwards voted YES on the bill. That made the vote 30-30! The bill still failed, short by one vote, but Representative C. Edwards took a stand; well kind of.
Does anyone remember what he campaigned on? Immigration. Apparently either A) Democrat leadership told him he should vote for it (not another mailer); or B) he decided that he was tired of mailings being sent to his districts telling about all the campaign promises that he is breaking. Either way, I was surprised. I am pretty sure it was a mixture of both A) and b).
So should Chris Edwards be given credit? I don't think so, but I will say *maybe*.
And bashing to Davy Edwards and the rest of the Dems who voted against true immigration reform.

Representative Berger speaking on House Bill 3509
HB 3509 (click HERE to view the bill), the very sad attempt by Democrats to show they care about illegal immigration passed yesterday 57-1. Representative Berger was the sole no vote. The following are some snippets of Mrs. Rino Berger's speech. I was pleasantly surprised.
Left: RINO with her holy bottle of water.
"We have huge issues around immigration and this bill does almost nothing. Yesterday we had a motion to bring forward bills that do things, bills that....I hope you don't go back to your districts and say to your constituents "I did something"….Don't go home and say this is what you did…because this IS NOT DEALING WITH IMMIGRATION."
Rino Watch: I'm not sure, do you think she deserves credit? Maybe she is just a RINO 99.99999% of the time? Your thoughts?

The Republican National Committee, hit by a grass-roots donors' rebellion over President Bush's immigration policy, has fired all 65 of its telephone solicitors, Ralph Z. Hallow will report Friday in The Washington Times.
