In early April John McCain said he had compiled a list of about twenty Vice-Presidential possibilities. This week is a wild guess of the twenty people McCain has on his list, starting with the most likely:

It seems to me that his standing within the Conservative Community, would prompt him to pick a Hard-line Conservative as his running mate. Apparently not.

Portman is a horrible choice. According to Rasmussen, he actually hurts McCain more than he helps him in OH...
